Da Hui Sportster

One of the Speed Shops latest projects, the Da Hui, a Sportster XL1200N Nightster which has been reworked and given a completely new look and vibe.

Steve Willis, Team Principal of the Speed shop, was contacted by Stacy Harman, Bass player for the successful UK band, “Playmaker”. Stacy wanted to give himself a well-earned treat after the weeks spent touring.

Why Da Hui? The Da Hui wording is from Hawaii, It has a few meanings and stories, Da Hui or The Club a term for extended family. But also has surf origins and wave ownership, Stacy’s passion for the big blue was a big influence for this Surfey feel.

The brief for the bike was a U.S low-rider feel, “all wheels”, Hawaiian influence, the bike looks great standing still. The bike was your standard HD Sportster with all the standard upgrade. The Client wanted the bike to reflect his own personality and style, a bike that he could go for a cruise on and feel totally at one with.

The bike was wheeled into the workshop and the look was discussed. The original fenders were kept but modified, allowing the rider to still get a pillion on the back courtesy of the very slim rough craft single seat with pillion combination. The Rough Craft styling was continued through the bike with a one off headlight and an air breather to match in anodised black.

Paughco in the USA supplied the front Springer forks to house the one of a kind wheels built for this project, a huge 23 inch front wheel wrapped in Avon cobras. Roland Sands brake rotors front and rear are stopped by the Performance Machine brake calipers.

The handlebars were made in house at the Speed Shop, these were dressed with RSD Brass grips, and beautiful KTEC master cylinder and levers with the bars machined to take the smooth but usable buttons for the indication and stop starting of the bike, HD LED front small indicators to keep things super clean were also mounted on the top fork tree.

The original indicators were mounted on a new HD Chrome swing arm to balance out the bling, a signature style fitting creating a clean back end with great visibility for traffic behind. The Vance and Hines Competition pipes added the sound that stands out like the paintwork.
